The Sail Transport Company offers the community a local food delivery service which relies on wind, tide, and a little human muscle power as its fuel source: a viable option to the systemic risk associated with a food supply chain dependent on one problematic commodity.
Sail transport offers to prioritizes local jobs and skills building over foreign fuel dependence. Trading by sail has been a rich (and colorful) source of culture for almost all but a tiny recent section of human history and with your help, we are enjoying its rediscovery. It’s not all waking up at 2:40 am to row in freezing light air to catch a tidal current.
It is the founder’s deepest vision that this is just one humble example of how people are re-empowering themselves by taking care of their own local environment and employment.
